Behavioral Health Environmental Scan & Community Health Needs Assessment

The Mat-Su Health Foundation works to enhance the enjoyment of good health and quality of life of those living in the Mat-Su Valley. The offer financial and strategic support to 501(c)3 organizations that offer services and solutions to health-related problems in the Borough.

In response to the 2013 Community Health Needs Assessment, Mat-Su Health Foundation conducted a Behavioral Health Environmental Scan (BHES) to learn what is working in our local behavioral health system and what could be improved.

Mat-Su Health Foundation also recently published the findings of their 2016 Community Health Needs Assessment. The report, “Health is Where We Live, Learn, Work & Play,” indicates that the top factors affecting Mat-Su citizens’ health are transportation, social connection & support, income, education & information, and housing.

Moving forward the Foundation will collaborate with its partner, Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, to formulate an implementation plan informed by the discovered factors. To read more about the Mat-Su Health Foundation, their work, and plans for the future, visit them at
